Omit top post in "recent posts" widget?

Summary:

I use the "recent posts" widget from Beautiful Beta. I love the widget, but with one exception: it's redundant for it to show my most recent post, since the actual post shows up right next to it. Is there a way to modify the code so that the widget starts with my second-most-recent post?
