Underwater Template

I tried to install this template into a new blog on blogger. I received the following error message:

Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly.
XML error message: The document type declaration for root element type "html" must end with '>'.

I did enable widgets.

Can you help?

I really don't know why I show as anonymous.

Bobby,
It appears that Blogger thinks that the >-character at the end of the <html ….. > line is missing. I don't understand why that is happening, because I looked into the XML-file and the tag is really there.
Please check this first line carefully, and see that you did not accidentally removed some characters from it, or inserted a space. If this does not solve the problem, I suggest the following workaround:

  1. from your old template, copy the html-line, and paste it temporarily in a Notepad file.
  2. upload the new template
  3. replace the html-line from the new template with the html-line from the old template
  4. save

If that does not work, you could fall back to replacing only the skin of the old template with the skin of Underwater.

In the meantime, I will look into the template file. It puzzles me, as I downloaded this file straight from the Blogger editor, and did not modify it. So it should work properly when uploading. Arrgh, Blogs! ;)

Hi Bob,
Just to make sure, I tested the template upload on a test blog. On the edit html page, I clicked the browse-button, browsed to the underwater.xml file, and uploaded it. The template saves automatically, without errors, and displays fine.
So please try it again, using Upload, and not using copy-paste of the file contents.

Thank you, worked like a charm.
I think on the copy and paste some of the stuff gets blocked my firewall or something.

Download and then upload is the way to go.

when i upload the text file, blogger keeps giving me bX-btcv0r as an error … is that a blogger issue? argh, i REALLY wanna use this gorgeous theme.

i uploaded a different theme and it worked fine … am stumped … wouldn't let me paste the xml either - same error msg

Hans,

I am interested in just the header from the Underwater template. It's perfect for the blog I am currently tweaking and far batter than one I could make myself.

If I could have permission to use it, I would give full credit to the artist in the template as well as a link on my blog to the artist's page/blog (if applicable).

Underwater Template and Haloscan

Hans: I would really like to use Haloscan with your underwater template.

Every time I install Haloscan using their automatic installer, the main column holding the posts disappears.

Any ideas?

This is my problem. My english is not very good. And i can't read html. So what can i do?
Ihre Vorlage konnte nicht analysiert werden, da sie nicht korrekt formatiert ist. Stellen Sie sicher, dass alle XML-Elemente ordnungsgemäß geschlossen sind.
XML-Fehlermeldung: The document type declaration for root element type "html" must end with '>'.

If it's possible, please write in german.

Hello I love this template
but I think now there's something wrong with the hosting of the images:

De pagina is niet gevonden

De URL http://home.planet.nl/~hansoosting/images/bubblebg.jpg is niet gevonden op de webserver.
Controleer of het pad in de URL juist is.

Neem contact op met de beheerder van de webserver als het probleem zich blijft voordoen.

I don't speak Dutch but I think that the imeges are not longer there.
What could I do?
